Biography:
Joshua Knudsen, DMSc, PA-C brings exceptional experience, leadership, and a strong commitment to patient-centered care to Iraan General Hospital. With extensive training in emergency medicine and primary care, Joshua is well prepared to serve patients across a wide range of medical needs, particularly in rural and critical-access settings.Joshua completed 23 years of distinguished service in the United States Army, retiring as a Major. A graduate of the U.S. Army Special Forces Qualification Course (Green Berets), he completed five combat deployments-including three to Iraq as a Special Forces Medical Sergeant on an Operational Detachment Alpha (ODA) and two to Afghanistan as a Physician Associate for 3rd Special Forces Group-providing advanced medical care in high-acuity and austere environments. His military career included seven years in primary care and nine years in emergency medicine.
After earning his doctorate, Joshua served as a Research Director and Assistant Professor at Baylor University, where he helped train and mentor future emergency medicine Physician Associates for the U.S. military. Since retiring from the Army in 2022, he has continued delivering high-quality emergency care throughout rural West Texas and served as Advanced Practice Provider Lead for Baptist Hospitals in San Antonio.
Known for his calm approach, clinical expertise, and dedication to his patients, Joshua is passionate about building long-term relationships and delivering dependable, high-quality care close to home.
Outside the hospital, Joshua enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, woodworking, restoration projects, pinball, video games, and shooting sports. He is a devoted husband of 20 years, a proud father of two sons, and a devout Christian man. Joshua and his wife reside in San Antonio, Texas.
Joshua is excited to join Iraan General Hospital and looks forward to serving the Iraan communityboth as a trusted medical provider and as an active community member.
